Student excursion is fast becoming a normal part of a child's education. Increasingly, schools around the world are incorporating educational trips into their academic calendar.
The general consensus shared by experts is that Student excursion helps to reinforce and expand on classroom learning. It can also help students build soft skills and expose them to new opportunities.
An excursion is usually a brief pleasure trip. It is an activity organized by the school during which students leave the school premises to engage in educational adventures. Schools are encouraged to adopt the practice of excursion because of its tendency to add reality to learning experiences which consequently enriches the courses of study and motivate both teachers and learners.

The name Calabar got its origin from Cala- bara, meaning "Calm Bar" given to it by the Portuguese Navigators, on their visit to the Gulf of Guinea in 1432.
Calabar is the only metropolis in Nigeria with three Paramount Rulers namely - The Obong of Calabar (natural ruler, treaty king and Grand Patriarch of the Efik Kingdom), The Ndidem of the Quas and The Muri - Munene of the Efuts.
The people of Calabar are the most hospitable and most peaceful in Nigeria. They are very civilized, both culturally and traditionally. No wonder the acronym C.A.L.A.B.A.R simply meaning - Come and Live and Be at Rest.
